Extra Christmas Money

From various family members I received a little over $200 for Christmas.  A small chunk of it was spent on providing the beer for the Bowl-Mania Party.  I am left with 165 Christmas dollars.  My question to you is, how do I use it?

In the past, I've always simply pocketed Christmas money or used money similarly received money for very specific things (for my birthday my Grandfather gave me $100, which is gradually being spent on Nello's pizza every week.  Thus, every week, my Grandfather is buying my pizza for me).  This year I looked at that $165 and pocketed $100, but decided I wanted to buy myself a late Christmas gift.  I never buy myself any cool electronics so that's what I'm thinking.

Specifically, I'm thinking digital camera for two reasons.  One, I enjoy photographing.  On vacations and such I always want whoever has a camera to give it to me and let me be in control of the photography for the week.  These people who never use their cameras otherwise suddenly become wildly possessive about them.  "No I will not allow you to handle my camera!"  Fine, whatever.  I also say "photographing" because that's what I am.  A photographer.  I hate making people stop what they're doing and stand together and smile.  It's too fucking easy.  That's picture-taking.  That is not what I do.  I photograph life.  Candidly.  And beautifully.  Put a camera in my hands and I'm willing to go on vacation anywhere.

Second, it would allow me to take pictures with the specific intention of using them on this website.  I can show you my room, my house, my town, Bristol, Rhode Island, and anything else that comes across my daily life that sticks out to me.  2009 was the TommyHajj.com year of the Mailbag.  2010 could be the year of picture posts.

What I need you for is suggestions.  Is this a solid idea?  Am I way behind the digital camera phase?  Is there some other electronic I should spend my $65 on?  Let me know.

Check out newegg.com, they have good electronic stuff for good prices. I would suggest that if you're willing to spend a little more money, go for the Flip Minicamcorder. It's really small, can take pretty good quality video and can take pictures too if I'm not mistaken. The video wouldn't be amazing quality, but it would get the job done. Newegg also usually does weekly deals and free shipping. It's where I get all my electronic stuff.

Pat - terrific site.  The deals and the free shipping could end up leading to whatever purchase I make being from newegg.com.  I briefly looked up the mini cam and it might be a little too far out of the price range.  But if there are not other suggestions I might just go for it.  Jeff claims I can't buy a digital camera for $65.  Since I never purchase anything for myself other than DVD's and video games, I have no idea what shit costs.  Is he correct?
